 APJ Abdul Kalam's Biography


APJ Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, he studied physics and aerospace engineering. Kalam played a key role in India's civilian space program and military missile development efforts, earning him the nickname "Missile Man of India."


Kalam served as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister of India from 1992 to 1999 and played a pivotal role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998. He was also involved in the development of India's first satellite launch vehicle, SLV-III, and was instrumental in the success of several other space programs.


Apart from his contributions to science and technology, Kalam was also known for his simplicity and his love for children. He was a prolific author and wrote several books, including Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds, and My Journey: Transforming Dreams into Actions.


Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, in 2015.
